The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is Nordstrom’s the largest annual sale event of the year where customers can shop brand new pre-fall products at discounted prices for a limited time. It’s like a national holiday for me, up there with Christmas and Easter. I count down the days to when I can start shopping spending.
Last year I scored a pair of in-season Tory Burch flats for 25% off. That’s what I love most about this sale – it’s not seasonal leftovers, it’s NEW fall items rolled out on sale (and then the price goes UP). Strange? Yes. Amazing? Yes.
After years of shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I have the secrets to making the most out of your shopping trip.
Secrets to Shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
If you don’t have one, get a Nordstrom Card. The Nordstrom Credit or Debit card is key to early sale access. The sale runs from July 22 – August 7, but if you’re a Nordstrom cardholder, you can shop as early as July 14 (or July 13 in store if you are a Level 4 cardholder and spend mucho mullah each year). This is key as many of the top designer deals are the first to sell out. You can always apply for a Nordstrom debit or credit card to gain Anniversary Sale Early Access (July 14-21). [Bonus: You’ll also get a $20 Nordstrom Note (rewards certificate) if you spend $100 on the day you are approved.]
Sneak a peek. Nordstrom posts its Anniversary Sale Catalog a few weeks before the start of the sale so you can start planning your fall wardrobe. Here is the 2016 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Catalog.
You can browse even without a Nordstrom Card. Yes, you can look behind the curtain, but if you find something you want to buy, you’ll have to open a Nordstrom card at checkout.
New sale items are added almost every day. Check back daily for new deals that pop up over the 3.5 week sale.
Use your triple points day during the sale. As a Nordstrom card holder, you are entitled to one triple points day a year at Level 1, the “lowest” level (and more with every level you reach). This means that for every $334 you spend on your triple points day, you get a $20 Nordstrom Note (reward certificate). The Anniversary Sale is the perfect time to speed up your Nordstrom notes. To use it, just let the cashier know at checkout or select it during checkout online (make sure your Nordstrom card is added as a payment method within your Nordstrom.com account).
Free shipping. Free returns. If you have a little one at home like I do, getting to the mall the first few days of the sale an be as challenging as peeing alone. Shop online with little risk and zero tantrums thanks to Nordstrom’s generous free shipping (no minimum) and free returns.
Free Personal Stylists. Have no idea where to start when it comes to your fall fashion? Book an appointment with a personal stylist any available day during the sale for a personalized shopping experience.
Free Alterations (for cardholders). I know – free, free, free. Can this really be true? If you’re signing up for a Nordstrom Credit or Debit card, you might as well take advantage of their free alterations offer (another perk of being a cardholder). Cardholders are reimbursed for alterations on Nordstrom purchases with a Nordstrom Note in the exact dollar value of the charge (up to $100 for Level 1 cardholders).
Don’t forget about the kids. The sale includes items for women, men and kids, which means you can get a head start on back to school shopping for the kiddos. She’ll definitely be the most fashionable kid in her class. [Bonus: if shopping in store, pop by the shoe department for a free balloon!]
