I am a Joovy Mom and partnered with Joovy for the following post. I received a Joovy Tricycoo 4.1 at no cost to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links.
We’ve been toying with the idea to get Little Man a bike but thought he might be too young. He watches Bear, now 4-years-old, ride her bike, longingly, wishing he too could pedal in the park with her. As a Joovy blogger, I was recently introduced to the new Tricycoo 4.1 and knew it would be a perfect introduction to riding a bike.
As soon as this toddler bike arrived, he pointed to the box with the biggest smile on his face. It’s like he knew he was finally getting a bike of his own. As soon as we put it together, he was off rolling around.
Little Man just turned 2-years-old, so we use the bike in the 24m+ setting – Training Trike Stage 3. In this setting, we slid the seat all the way up (the setting closest to the handles) so he can reach the pedals.
The pedals can either be locked or unlocked, depending if you use the handle or not. When unlocked, the pedals spin freely.
We used “dad power” mode with the handle and had Little Man keep his feet on the pedals since we are trying to teach him how to pedal.
My favorite part of this bike is the handle and my son’s favorite part is the cup holder (anything that keeps his sippy within arm’s reach is a win!). He also loves to pile his toys in the back bin.
We use this bike for walks in the neighborhood (instead of pushing him in a stroller). Hopefully once he gets the full gist of pedaling, he can ride his bike around our local safety town with his sister. This bike is a great introduction to pedals and I anticipate he’ll be able to use it without the push handle in a few months.
One thing to keep in mind is that the bike doesn’t have a break system, so we’ll need to refrain from riding on hills or riding anywhere other than parks/children areas.
If you’re looking to introduce your child to a bike and help them learn how to pedal, the Joovy Tricycoo 4.1 is a great place to start!
The Joovy Tricycoo 4.1 is for kids from 10 months and up to 44 pounds and features 4-stages that can be adjusted as your kiddo grows. If you have any questions about this trike, I’m happy to answer them! Just leave them in the comments below.
